On Saturday 29th September 2007 Oakdale RFC entertained Charleston Outlaws RFC to help celebrate 100 years of Oakdale village. Oakdale won by 39 - 15 and ran in 7 tries but the Outlaws played their part in a very open, entertaining game. Many thanks to Chris Greenslade (formerly of Oakdale, now of Charleston) and all of the Charleston touring party for making the day a huge success. Before the game our Under 13's played our Under 12's in another entertaining game to show the future looks good for Oakdale RFC! After enduring Wales vs Fiji and introducing the Americans to some traditional welsh cuisine (curry & chips), the sing songs and drinking games started ensuring that an enjoyable evening was had by all. |

Chairman's Welcome Oakdale Village Centenary Celebrations On behalf of the Officers of Oakdale RFC, Players, Supporters and the People of Oakdale, Croeso I'r Cwmderi - Welcome to Oakdale I wish to extend a very warm Oakdale welcome to our visitors from Charleston, USA, to Oakdale Recreation Ground today, to help our village celebrate its centenary. We also look forward to meeting up with the whole Charleston touring party in the rugby clubhouse after the game for an after match reception and forming new friendships. It is a special honour to welcome back into our community a true 'Son of Oakdale' and now I am sure that Chris, John Wagner, Jon Leo, Kelly Grant, Jake Fraser, Mighty Joe Young and the rest of the Team Officers have been working their socks of on fundraising and planning what I am sure will be a wonderful tour, that you will all remember for years to come. Brief History
For a small club that competes nationally, the Outlaws boast an impressive playing record reaching the National Championships Elite 8 on no more than 3 occasions with two quarter final and one semi final place over the past 5 years. The tour to Wales to help celebrate the 100 year Birthday of Oakdale culminates over 12 months of planning. For many players on this tour, traveling to Wales represents their first foray onto foreign soil. It is indeed both an honor and privilege to be playing Oakdale today, and to be part of history. We thank you for the opportunity and hope that our play on the field will not only demonstrate the type of rugby we like to play in Charleston, but more importantly will be worthy of such a wonderful occasion.
