Friendly - Oakdale 5 - 26 Abercarn
Oakdale entertained 4th Division Abercarn on Friday night, and despite a defeat can take a lot of positives from the game and take them into preparation for the next league game against Caldicot on October 13th.
An excellent opportunity to play some rugby with the lack of league action recently, we also took advantage of the friendly nature of the game to give the whole squad some game-time. It was the 2nd time in a week that over 25 players were used.
The recent friendlies have given us the perfect opportunity to bring back players returning from injury, give some players playing their first games of the season the opportunity to improve their fitness and the opportunity to give some of the younger players coming through the club some experience of senior rugby.
The game itself, the coaches can take a lot of encouragement from the defensive effort against a side playing 1 division higher in The WRU National Leagues.
