The Friday night Floodlit League starts this Friday with Oakdale entertaining Llanhilleth, kick-off time to be confirmed. The league consists of 6 teams, 3 from Division 4 East - Tredegar Ironsides, Garndiffaith and Crumlin and 3 from Division 5 East - Oakdale, Llanhilleth and Abertillery BG.
The games are to be played on a Friday night before a Wales International on the Saturday, there are 3 games during the Autumn Internationals and 2 games during The 6 Nations Championship.

Oakdale lost 21-7 away to Abercarn in a friendly match on Saturday. Despite the loss it was an encouraging performance as several players were missing, either injured or rested, against a side who play 2 divisions higher in the ASDA leagues.

Despite an emphatic first win of the season, 64-7 at home to RTB Ebbw Vale, there was some bad news on Saturday. Flanker Terry Davies came off with a neck injury. It was later discovered that he had 3 fractures in his neck. Everybody at the club wishes Terry all the best for a speedy recovery.

Oakdale have been knocked out of the Konica Minolta Cup in the first round, losing 12-32 at home to Bettws. Oakdale will be looking for revenge when they face Bettws, again at home, on the 14th October in the league.

Oakdale have appointed a new forwards coach for the upcoming season. Karl Williams will work alongside Anthony Davies who continues as backs coach. It has also been announced that Simon Barber will continue as captain.
